Exactly 105 years ago today, the Great Leader of Turks  Mustafa Kemal Ataturk started the Turkish War of Independence, which enabled us to take our rightful  place among modern sovereign nations. 

After the establishment of Turkish Republic, May 19th was observed only as Ataturk Day until 1935  when the Founder Member and Former President of Beşiktaş JK Ahmet Fetgeri Aşeni proposed that  May 19th be recognized as Youth and Sports Day as well. His proposal was enacted immediately with the approval of Ataturk.

Therefore, we proudly  celebrate the May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day and express our deepest gratitude  to Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and his comrades-in-arms.
