After withstanding an early pressure from the visitors Göztepe, the Black Eagles settled down and balanced the game. They even had a couple of good chances to score but failed to find the back of the net.It was nil nil at half-time. Teams again were unable to get on the scoresheet in the second half as the Turkish Cup tie at Vodafone Park went into extra-time. When the sides could not break the stalemate in the additional half hour, they had to play a penalty shoot-out to decide the winner. Beşiktaş won the shoot-out 3-1 and advanced to the Turkish Cup quarter-finals.
