Despite a slow start, Black Eagles managed to take the lead on 16 minutes through a close-range finish from defender Omar Colley. They then held onto that 1-0 advantage going into the half-time interval. In order to protect their lead, visitors Beşiktaş sat back in defence for most of the second half, but an injury-time header from Emirhan İlkhan levelled the scores and dashed their hopes for a Super League victory.
