Roared on by a highly vocal capacity crowd, the home side Beşiktaş battled for supremacy in the first half, but had to wait until the injury time to take the lead. Wilfred Ndidi controlled a through pass from Salih Özcan and sent the ball beyond the reach Crystal Place goalkeeper Walter Benitez. However, back-to-back goals from Yeremi Pino and Mateta at the outset of the second half stunned the home crowd and swung the momentum firmly in visitors’ favor. Refusing to surrender, the Black Eagles eventually regrouped and leveled on 73 minutes when Junior Olaitan found the back of the net with a brilliant solo effort from outside the box. The teams were unable to change the score in the remainder of the game and ended up sharing the points.
