A memorial service was held at the RheinEnergie Stadium in Cologne, Germany for Christoph Daum, one of Beşiktaş’ great coaches, who passed away on 25 August 2024.
One behalf of Beşiktaş, the Club’s General Secretary M. Kaan Şakul attended the ceremony. Speaking at the ceremony held for Daum, who won the love and respect of football fans of all colors in Turkiye with his sympathetic personality, M. Kaan Şakul said:
"He was a man whose love for football matched his love for people. That's how we will always remember him. Besiktas was the first team Daum coached outside of Germany. We were going through a difficult period at that time. However, he managed to win three titles for Beşiktaş in his first two seasons. He brought fresh blood to our club and to our fans. The trophies he won for Beşiktaş will always be in our museum as his legacy. Daum was also a bridge between Turkiye and Germany because he believed in the unifying power of football. In short, he won the love of all Turkish people. His contributions to Turkish football and Besiktas will always live in our hearts."
Once again, we would like to express our sincere condolences to international football community, especially to his family and fans.
