Excerpts from Alex Chamberlain interview:

 

-I am happy and excited to be at Beşiktaş.  I can say that it is a new challenge for me. A new country and a new league… I will try to adapt as fast as I can. I came here to accomplish something important. We will wait and see.

- I grew up in a family with a passion for football. My father was a former  professional footballer. He was also my hero and and mentor. I wanted to follow his footsteps and achieve what he had achieved. However,  it was not  easy because he had  strict  rules and regulations. But those high standards have made the player I am today. I am very  lucky for that.    

- I remember the night I lifted the UEFA Super Cup in this Beşiktaş stadium with Liverpool. It was a beautiful night. You can't always play these kinds of matches in your career. I have the same feeling for Beşiktaş, and I want to lift other trophies here. 

- I can say that I am basically an attacking midfielder. However,  I  assumed different roles when I was playing for Liverpool, I can play further back if I have to. But some of the things I do well on the pitch include forward passing, dribbling, shooting from outside the penalty area, starting the attack and setting up a transition game. I can also play as a winger. I played as a winger for 6 years at Arsenal, I did it from time to time at Liverpool as well. I can play anywhere on the pitch, but I like to play in midfield and carry the ball forward. You can expect me to do all of these.

-Before coming here, I talked to Nathan Redmond and Loris Karius about Beşiktaş.  They said a lot of good things about the club.  There were a few other people who told me what it was like to live in this city and play in Turkey. I've heard good things from everyone I've talked to.

- The goal of every player who comes to a big club such as Beşiktaş is to win the national title and be successful in Europe.  My goals are the same. After understanding what my coach wants from me,  I want to play as much as I can and score goals. I also want to be  part  of a team who can beat the best in the world. 

Cenk Tosun, Arthur Masuaku, Gedson Fernandes and Daniel Amartey are all very good players. I played against them. I think it will help me when I work with them, because they are the players who know where I come from and how I play. This will allow me to adapt more easily to the team. They know the differences between the two leagues and the areas where I can be more useful.  I can't wait to work with them.

-All football players want to excite the fans. When I get the ball, I'll quickly move it forward and do positive  things on the pitch, like taking shots or making effective  pass. I will try to create scoring chances for the team. I want to be as exciting as possible. I will give my hundred percent on the field, not only in attack but  in defence as well. That includes scoring goals.  I will share the experiences that come from playing football at the highest level for the past 12 years.

-I would like to thank everyone very much for the warm welcome. The fans I met in Istanbul were also very warm. I want to achieve all our goals as a team and make them feel happy and proud. I think that's going to be the most important thing. From now on, my priority is to help the team.
