Following back-to-back losses that put them on equal footing with the other Super League contenders, the re-energized Black Eagles started their title-deciding final match attacking but also focussed in defence. Domagoj Vida fired Beşiktaş in front with a spelendid header on 10 minutes, off a perfect cross from Welinton Souza. The home side Göztepe responded through Alpaslan Öztürk during a 24th-minute goal-line scrimmage, and the teams took a 1-1 draw into the interval. Determined to win at all costs, Beşiktaş pushed hard for the game-changer in the second half and went ahead after 69 minutes on a Rachid Ghezzal’s penalty-kick that sent the keeper wrong way. Sergen Yalçın’s lads failed to score an insurance goal in the remainder of the game but came out as the Turkish Super League Champions for 2020/21 season on goal difference over Galatasaray.
