The exhibition game between the Turkish Champions Beşiktaş and the Bundesliga powerhouse FC Schalke 04 at the Zhuhai Sports Center started fairly evenly, but the German outfit went into the half with a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Harit, coming after 42 minutes. Hemmerich and Konoplyanka made it 3-0 for Schalke at the outset of the second half, but a double from Cenk Tosun reduced the deficit to one, and despite Beşiktaş’ relentless search for the equaliser, closed the scoring for the day.
