Eagles push hard yet slip again in Champions League!

SG Flensburg-Handewitt vs.Beşiktaş Mogaz HT 31:27

Beşiktaş Mogaz’s performance at the Flens Arena tonight was truly commendable, but they still came up short in the end. Thanks to a string of brilliant saves by the goalkeeper Yunus Özmusul and a solid defence, the Black Eagles were level with their mighty German hosts at 7-7 midway through the first half and faced only a narrow deficit of 15-14 going into the break.

Despite a slow start, the stubborn Beşiktaş Mogaz refused to quit and managed the tie the score again at 20-20 after 10 minutes into the second half. However, from thereon, the back-to-back two-minute penalties they received enabled the SG Flensburg-Handewitt to open up a 4-goal lead and forced the Black Eagles to play a catch-up game until the final buzzer. The Turkish Super League leaders dug deep to close the gap and were able pull within 29-27 with a minute left to play, but apparently it was not enough to bring them their second Champions League victory after 9 matches.
