In the first leg of EuroCup Eight-Finals, Beşiktaş women’s basketball team defeated PEAC-Pecs 63-56 in Hungary and took a giant step towards the quarter-finals. Trailing 20-18 after the opening quarter, they managed to pull ahead 34-32 at the break, but saw the home side bounce back and take a 46-43 lead before the final stanza.
However, Beşiktaş women were in no mood to surrender as they tightened up defensively and turned to their outside shooting in the fourth quarter to walk away with a seven-point victory. Veteran Gülşah Akkaya racked up a team-high 16 points for Beşiktaş, while Kulichova had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. The return game will be played at Beşiktaş’ Integral Arena on Thursday, 22 January.
