Beşiktaş Mogaz improving in Champions League

Beşiktaş Mogaz vs. KIF Kolding Kobenhavn 24:33

Even though they suffered their second straight loss in the VELUX EHF Champions League Group B, the heroes of Turkish handball scored more goals than they did in their previous game.

Backed by a large and vocal home crowd and determined to prove that they belonged to the Champions League, Beşiktaş Mogaz made a slow start into their game at the Sinan Erdem Sports Hall and fell behind 4-1 after 5 minutes. Through Erwin and Tolga, they managed to narrow the gap to two goals midway through the first half, but a flurry of 7M-goals and a solid goalkeeping from Kasper Hvidt gave the Danish visitors a 16-11 lead at the intermission.

Refusing to give up without a fight, Beşiktaş Mogaz were able to the deficit to 20-16 with the goals from Ramazan Döne  at the midway point of the second half and even succeeded in forcing a Kobenhavn time-out at the midway point of the second half.  However, despite the Black Eagles’ pressure, the star-studded Danish team used their vast Champions League experience from there on and began stretching the margin with quick-paced attacks and a series of brilliant goals from the wings to register a convincing win in Istanbul.
