Black Eagles returning from London with well-deserved draw

Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Beşiktaş

In their second Europa League Group C game, the visitors Beşiktaş earned a point with a late penalty at the White Hart Lane tonight. If they were a bit more focused inside the area, they could’ve returned to Istanbul with three points in the bag.

While Tottenham struggled to get their offence going, the Black Eagles had three early opportunities to take the lead, but failed to capitalise on them. Then, Harry Kane put the Spurs in front on 27 minutes, thanks to a brilliant low strike from outside the box. It was the home team’s first serious chance up to that point. Beşiktaş recovered quickly and pressed for the equaliser in the remainder of the half, only to see the Spurs hang on to their one-goal advantage heading into the break.

Refusing to surrender, Beşiktaş carried that high-tempo game into the second half and came close on several occasions but had to wait until Demba Ba’s 88th-minute penalty to level the matters. They now face FK Partizan at home on 23 October.
