Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball bowed out the Turkish Cup with a 68-63 semifinal loss to Tarsus Belediyesi at Karataş Şahinbey Sports Hall.
Starting the game with a lineup of Nilay, Marques, Yasemin, Sale and Santos, the Lady Eagles struggled to find their usual offensive flow in the opening frame as they trailed, 25-16, after one quarter of play. Thanks to a much improved defense, they managed to get back on track in the second and were down by only three, 38-35, going into the locker room at the break.The third quarter saw Tarsus Belediyesi rally back with a string of unanswered points by hot-shooting duo of Ely and Pierson and push the lead back to eight at 45-37 midway through the quarter. Beşiktaş Cola Turka tried to stay close with Sales and Esra but went into fourth, trailing 57-49. The teams traded buckets for much of the final stanza, and with 18 seconds remaining in the game, Tarsus had a 67-63 advantage. When the Lady Eagles came up empty in their last attack, their opponents sailed to 68-63 victory that enabled to play in the Turkish Cup Final.
