In a match played behind closed doors, Ankaragücü won 1-0 at home to Beşiktaş on Day 21 of the Spor Toto Super League.
The game at Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium was refereed by Özgür Yankaya. Ankaragücü made a better start and went ahead after just one minute through Serdar Özkan. After weathering the early storm, the Eagles pushed forward more for the equaliser, but the home team’s defence stood firm aand managed to take the 1-0 advantage into interval.The Black and White started the second half with İsmail Köybaşı, who replaced İbrahim Üzülmez on the left, to provide extra teeth for the front line. The tactic worked as Beşiktaş pinned their hosts into their own half for the rest of the match. On 65 minutes, they almost equalised, but Simao Sabrosa’s close-range effort hit the post and came back into play. Manager Bernd Shuster brought on Bobo and Fabian Ernst for Hugo Almedia and Ekrem Dağ in the closing stages for fresh legs, but Ankaragücü withstood the pressure to claim a 1-0 victory.
