In the first leg of their Ziraat Turkish Cup quarter-finals, the Black Eagles blanked visitors Gaziantep Büyükşehir Belediyespor 5-0 at the Fiyapı Inonu Stadium.

Instructed by the Assistant Manager Tayfur Havutçu, who was filling in for the suspended Bernd Schuster, the Black and White dominated the game from the kick-off with a flurry of early chances. Following a couple of close calls from Sivok and Quaresma, Bobo set up Ernst on 9 minutes with a header, but the German midfielder’s powerful shot just went wide. The Eagles had a another golden chance to break the deadlock in the 21st minute when, after a save on Hilbert’s header, Gaziantep goalkeeper Onur Kalafat dropped the ball at the feet Quresma but the Portuguese couldn’t take advantage. Nevertheless, two minutes later, Beşiktaş would finally break the visitors’ resistance with a brilliantly-executed goal by Bobo. Following a great through ball from Ernst, the Brazilian got into a one-on-one with the goalie and calmly chipped it over the diving Onur to open the scoring. Fernandes doubled the home side’s lead on 31 minutes when he sent home Ekrem Dağ’s cross from close range. It was Fernandes’ first official goal for Beşiktaş. The Eagles took a two-goal advantage into intermission.
Beşiktaş did not slow down a bit in the second half as Fernandes found target again on the 48th-minute mark after a quick give-and-go with Hilbert to score his second of the game, 3-0. While the visitors were still trying to recover, the Black and White won a penalty when Quaresma was brought down by the goalkeeper inside the 18-yard line. Bobo nicely converted the kick and it made it 4-0 for Beşiktaş. The unstoppable Quaresma would also put his name on the scoresheet with a super 62-minute free-kick and turn the lights out on visitors as the Eagles carried a 5-goal cushion into the rematch.
The two teams will face each other off again in the second leg, which is scheduled for March 2nd in Gaziantep City.

43’… Following a brilliant pass from Fernandes, Bobo entered the box from left side, but his shot is just tipped over the bar by Onur Kalafat.

79’… Onur Bayramoğlu controls Hilbert’s cross with his chest before launching a bullet towards the visitors’ net. The ball hits Bobo standing in the way and goes out.
