Beşiktaş Women’s Volleyball suffered a 3-1 decision to the visiting Galatasaray Medical Park in a Week 11 game of the Aroma Turkish Women’s Volleyball League at the Akatlar Arena.
The derby match started out evenly with the visitors holding an 8-7 edge at the first technical timeout. Galatasaray Medical Park stretch that lead to 16-10, going into the second. Unable to overcome the visitors’ powerful blocking, the Lady Eagles failed to put points on the scoreboard as they dropped the opening set 25-13.Still struggling offensively, Beşiktaş fell behind 8-5 and 16-9 at the timeouts and never recovered from there on, losing the set 25-18 and trailing 2-0 in sets.
Lady Eagles managed turn the tings around in the third set. Galatasaray went into the first technical timeout with an 8-3 lead, but series of powerful serves by Duygu Sipahioğlu closed the gap to 16-15, entering the second. Then Beşiktaş seiezed control with consecutive blocks to take the set 25-23 and make it 2-1.
The win gave the Black and Whites all the confidence they needed as they battled its arch-rival tooth and nail early in the fourth and were up 8-7, heading into the first technical. However, from that point onwards, the visitors became more aggressive at the net and stormed ahead to lead 16-9 by the second technical timeout. Beşiktaş tried to keep the score close, but back-to-back blunders enabled Galatasaray to seize the set 25-20 and the match 3-1.
