Beşiktaş 3 – 2 Konya Torku Şekerspor

On Day 2 of the Ziraat Bank Turkish Cup, Beşiktaş scraped a 3-2 win over Konya Torku Şekerspor at the Mardan Antalyaspor Stadium last night.

The Black Eagles made a quick start and opened the scoring in the 10th minute through a header from Aurelio. Şekerspor tried to level the game with long-balls directed towards Cafercan, but Beşiktaş defence kept a close eye on him. As the match rolled on, the Black and White took complete full of midfield and began knocking at the door again. The pressure paid off in the final minute of the half as Guti made it 2-0 to cap the scoring for the first 45 minutes.
Substituting Tabata and İbrahim Üzülmez with Fink and İsmail Köybaşı, Beşiktaş continued their dominance after the restart, denying the visitors any time on the ball or decent possession to play with. Their determination was rewarded when substitute Fink hammered home a brilliant pass from Qurasema to give the Black and White a three-goal advantage on 60 minutes. But Konya Tortu Şekerspor refused to throw in the towel as they rose from the ashes with Hasan’s 75th-minute goal. While the Eagles proceeded to play out the remaining minutes without further alarm, young Yusuf reduced the deficit to one goal with 7 minutes left in the match. The visitors desperately sought an equaliser down the stretch, creating some anxious moments for Beşiktaş, but the Black and White managed to hold on to emerge 3-2 victors and post their first win in the group.
