Beşiktaş 2 -0 Rapid Wien

Quaresma (32’) and Fabian Ernst (45’) scored for Beşiktaş as the Eagles shut out Rapid Wien 2-0 to in their last UEFA Europa League Group L match.

The game at the Fiyapı Inonu Stadium was refereed by Peter Rasmussen of Danish Football Federation.
Roared on by a large home crowd, the Black and White took control right from the kick-off and pinned the Austrians into their own half. Despite the heavy rain, the Eagles peppered the Rapid goal with long range efforts throughout the fist half. Beşiktaş defender Zapotocny sustained a knee injury at the 23rd-minute mark and was replaced Ersan Gülüm. The goal the Eagles longed for came in the 32nd minute when Quaesma found the back of the net with a bullet from outside the box. Austrians pushed out more after the goal but could not beat keeper Cenk Gönen who turned in another fine performance for Beşiktaş with a number of clutch saves. Just as everyone in the stadium was starting to think that there would be no more goals in first 45 minutes, Fabian Ernst stepped into the spotlight to make it 2-0 with a superb header and set the score for the first half.
Sitting on a two-goal cushion, the Eagles took their feet off the pressure pedal in the second half and opted for cautious football with as few risks as possible. The visitors, now looking more assertive, came close to getting on the scoresheet couple of times, but were denied by the keeper Cenk Gönen once again. Late substitutions of Mert Nobre and Erhan Güven for Quresma and Hilbert did not alter the course of the game for Beşiktaş as they cruised to a 2-0 victory and advanced to the next round.
