After the Beşiktaş’s 1-0 victory over last season’s champions Bursaspor, Beşiktaş Manager Bernd Schuster weighed in on his team’s performance for the press:

“I believe we were the better team on the pitch and deserved to win. Thanks to our recent results, our lads played with a lot of confidence tonight and fought for every possession. This was another must-win fixture for us, and in order to keep the game under control, we had to score first. Our tactical adjustments at the intermission paid off big time for us as we reached our objective in the second half. I thank all my players for putting such a solid performance. 
Our youngest Eagle Ali Kuçik is fully aware of his responsibilities out there and making the best of the chance he is given. His speed and ball control have helped us a lot in recent matches. If he keeps performing like this, he’ll have a place in the starting line-up.
I’ve been complimenting Guti’s performance quite often lately, but I can’t help myself from drawing attention to the way he plays. His confidence, reading of game and accurate passes are setting good example to our other players. He has become a role model for all of us already.  
We played two though matches in these past two weeks and managed to win both of them, first against Galatasaray and then last season’s champions Bursaspor. I am sure we’ve convinced everyone that despite the point difference, we are a serious contender like anyone else. The nine point difference is nothing in this three-point-league, but we must keep on winning and cannot afford to drop points along the way. Now, we are looking forward to our next two matches before the league enters winter-break.”
