Club Council Meeting Held

Beşiktaş’s third ordinary council meeting for the year 2010 took place at the Dolmabahçe Hall of the Ceylan InterContinental Hotel on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by the President of Council Mr. Yalçın Karadeniz.

After Mr. Yalçın Karadeniz’s opening speech, Club General Secretary Fahrettin Curoğlu took the floor and said “Our football team is the only one representing Turkey in Europe this season. We are also qualified for next rounds in basketball, volleyball and handball and hoping to go as far as we can. With this opportunity, I’d like extend my condolences to the families of Council Member A. Güner Tarfan and former Club Masseur and Assembly Member Zeki Er who passed away recently.  May God forgive their soul!
Beşiktaş Deputy-Chairman Responsible for Financial Affairs also addressed the council members:
“We are paying attention to all positive criticisms coming from you and trying hard to keep our financial situation under strict control. Let’s not forget success costs money. We spent $46 million of the $75million credit for restructuring our short term loans and did not take out any new loans. The said credit will not increase our overall debt because it is covered. As you see, we are being as transparent as we can on these matters.
Board Member Responsible for Sports Facilities Mr. Orhan Saka, on the other hand, lashed out at the criticisms directed against Vice-Chairman Metin Keçeli, “I think it is unfair to criticize Mr. Keçeli for the things he is not directly responsible of. The language used here is very harsh and threatening, making it difficult for some ever to come to face-to-face with him. Let’s remember, we are all in the same boat.”
The meeting came to close following a series of suggestions by the council members.
