After the Eagles’s 2-1 win away to CSKA Sofia, Beşiktaş Boss Bernd Schuster shared his thoughts with the press:
“It was a fairly even game. We wanted to come out of here with a win to book ourselves a ticket to the next round without waiting the outcome of the final match. Two back-to-back goals, scored right on time in the second half, helped us dominate down the stretch.I’d like to make one thing clear. We did not change our game plan in the second half, but we looked more active and determined upfront. Some of our forwards performed like they were at sea in the first half. I had a few words with them at the intermission, and they started playing the way they were supposed to in the second half. And that’s how we got those goals.
Guti had another great game tonight. He orchestrated the team with his precision passes, especially in the second half. He definitely played a major role in our win. In one word, he showed his class to us once again tonight. Besides him, young Ali Kuçik also looked brilliant out there. While he was on, he kept the CSKA defence on their toes. We are trying to give our young players as much playing time as possible this season. It pleases me to see the players from our U18 team performing so well at this high level. They get massive experience from these types of matches.”
