Partizan Galenika of Serbia bested the visiting Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball, 73-61, in the FIBA European Cup Group C opener.
The first quarter saw an even contested affair with the home team clinging to a narrow 16-12 advantage. The Serbians went on to stretch that lead in the second as they opened up a ten-point, 36-26, cushion at the break.The Lady Eagles got back into game in the third and managed to shave the deficit to 38-34 at the outset but still trailed by 10 points, 53-43, heading into the fourth. Despite numerous comeback attempts, Beşiktaş Cola Turka was unable to bring the margin back to single-digits in the final quarter as Partizan Galenika eased to a 73-61 victory.
