Beşiktaş Manager Bern Schuster was quite upset after his team’s stoppage-time loss to Kayserispor:
“Coming into this match, we knew it wasn’t going to be easy because Kayseri is a formidable side especially on their own home ground. In general, I am satisfied with my players’ performance. They played as hard as they could and did not deserve to lose with a last-minute goal. We were definitely the better team in the second half, and could’ve turned the game in our favour if we could take advantage of our chances. Sending in our forwards late in the game proves that we came here to win. We fielded an experienced side tonight but unfortunately some of my key players were just coming out of injuries. We made a decision and it did not work out the way we wanted. For example, at times, Nobre, Guti and Quaresma did not look fully fit out there, but we had no other alternatives for this important match. Some games you have to have experienced players on the pitch and this was on of them. I cannot accept our fans’ protest against Nihat Kahveci. He did not loose this match by himself; we lost it as a team. I must also go out of my way and say a few words about the referees. Just as in this match, we’ve been subject to some dubious calls lately. If everyone wishes to see a fair league being played, they must stop immediately.”
