Beşiktaş 1 – 3 Porto

The Black Eagles suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Porto of Portugal in their third UEFA Europa League Group L match with Bobo scoring Beşiktaş’s lone goal in stoppage time.

The game refereed by Carlos Clos Gomez of Spain was played at Fiyapı Inonu Stadium before a sold out crowd of cheering fans.
The Black and White started brightly and had some early chances to go a goal up, but Beşiktaş forwards failed to finish them off. Porto eventually gained the upper hand and went ahead with a Falcoa header on 26 minutes. Galvanized by falling behind, Beşiktaş pushed for the equaliser and came close on two occasions through striker Nihat Kahveci, but visitors’ keeper Helton pulled off a pair of brilliant saves and denied him the goal. Two minutes before the intermission, the Portuguese were reduced to 10 men when Maicon was sent off after pulling down Bobo as the last defender.  It was 1-0 for Porto at half time.
After the restart, the Eagles came out with more purpose and put Porto goal under pressure, only to see Hulk double up the visiting side’s lead after 59 minutes at the end of a sudden counterattack. The entry of Beşiktaş forward Ali Kucik for defender Zapotocny in the 70th minute seemed to have no effect as Hulk scored again seven minutes later to send the match out of reach. Porto played the final minutes with 9 men after defender Fernando was shown his second yellow card.  Following the late substitutions of İsmail Köybaşı and Ersan Adem Gülüm for İbrahim Üzülmez and Nobre, the Portuguese team conceded a goal in stoppage time, but Bobo’s goal was too little and too late as Porto came out 3-1 winners.
