Beşiktaş:2 Manisaspor:3

In a Sport Toto Super League Matchday 8 action, the Black and White went down 3-2 to visitors Manisaspor at Fiyapi Inonu Stadium.

The Black Eagles started the better team as they controlled most of the early possession, but Isaac Promise took advantage of a lost ball in midfield and caught Beşiktaş backline off guard to put Manisaspor ahead on 7 minutes. The Black and Whites piled forward after the shock of the goal and managed to level the scores through Bobo 7 minutes later. With short passes through the middle, they pushed for a second but could not finish off their chances. After Ernst’s 40th minute close-range strike was cleared away on goal line by the visiting defence, the first half ended in a 1-1 draw.
Despite their dominance, Beşiktaş again conceded an unexpected goal at the outset of the second half as the visitors regained the lead with a Dixon header from the far post off a free-kick. To top it all, Tabata, who tried to stop a Manisaspor counterattack with and illegal tackle, received his second yellow in the 54th minute and left the Eagles a man short on the pitch. While Beşiktaş brought on Holosko for Fink to add more power upfront, Manisa sent in Yiğit Gökoğlan for Makukula. The visiting team’s substitution proved to be more decisive as Gökoğlan doubled his side’s advantage on 69 minutes following a long ball thrown behind Beşiktaş defence. The visitors were also reduced to 10 men after Eren got his second yellow 10 minutes before full time. After Manisaspor opted to stay back to protect their lead, the Eagles, led by Bobo, camped inside their box but were unable to find the net. Their pressure finally paid off when Ernst’s bullet header off a cross from left flank cut the deficit to one in the 90th minute. Bobo scored the equaliser in stoppage time but it was disallowed for offside.
The Eagles found a couple of more chances in the dying minutes but were unable to turn the game around as Manisaspor ran out 3-2 victors.
