Rapid Wien:1 Beşiktaş:2

In their second Europa League group L match, visitors Beşiktaş beat Austrian side Rapid Wien by a score of 2-1.

Both team displayed an attacking early on, but the Eagles, using the flanks more efficiently, eventually gained the upper hand. An 11th-minute strike from the Black and White’s Quaresma, who dribbled past almost the entire Austrian defence one by one, hit the post but didn’t go in. But Beşiktaş’s Portuguese star sustained an unfortunate injury in the 26th minute and had to be replaced by Holosko. Failing to show anything offensively, Rapid Wien accepted the game in their own half in the remaining minutes and braced to weather the late Beşiktaş storm. Their tactic paid off as the first half ended goalless.
Led by their Turkish origin players, Yasin Pehlivan and Veli kavak, the host team looked more determined in the second half and began to come out more often. As a result, Veli Kavak tucked in the ball, which was deflected off the post, on 51 minutes to put his team 1-0 ahead. But the undeterred Eagles recovered quickly from the shock of the goal and managed to level the scores through Holosko four minutes later. Gaining more confidence, Beşiktaş upped the pressure after the equaliser and created a flurry of chances in front of the Austrian goal but Holosko was unable to capitalise on them. Then, the Black and White’s Bobo took the spotlight in the 64th minute as a great pass from Tabata put him face to face with Rapid Wien’s goalkeeper.  The Brazilian striker made no mistake to fire his side 2-1 in front.
The Austrians made some last-ditch attempts to salvage the game in the closing stages but failed to beat keeper Hakan Arıkan, whose brilliant saves kept them at bay as the Eagles ran out 2-1 victors to make two wins in a row.
