HJK Helsinki 0-4 Beşiktaş

The Black Eagles stormed into the group stage of the UEFA Europa League with a 4-0 away trouncing of HJK Helsinki last night. The second leg at Helsinki’s Sonera Stadium in Finland saw Quaresma (15), Guti (67), Necip Uysal (78) and Holosko (90) each score a goal for Beşiktaş as the Black and White put on an outstanding display of attacking football appreciated by all.

In a high energy game referred by Danish referee Peter Rasmussen and attended by a vocal crowd expatriate Beşiktaş fans, the Eagles started the sharper and pressed the home side from the kick-off, moving the ball with ease and freedom while not giving Helsinki anything defensively. The opening goal came on the quarter hour mark, and it went to the visitors when Quaresma fired into the top left corner from 25 yards. The finish outfit tried desperately to equalise, but Beşiktaş managed to hold on to their one goal advantage at half time.
Helsinki continued to pressure at the outset of the second half and even hit the post during their brief domination, only to see their qualifying chances go up in smoke when Guti made it 2-0 for the visitors following a brilliant give-and-go with Bobo on 67 minutes. While Helsinki were still reeling, young defender Necip Uysal would step into the spotlight twelve minutes later and further the Black and White’s lead with a bullet header off a corner kick from left side. Holosko scored Beşiktaş’s fourth in injury time, as the Eagles waltzed their way to the next phase of the UEFA Europa League with an impressive 4-0 away win, their best in years.
