Mehmet Aurelio Joins Beşiktaş

In a statement submitted to Istanbul Stock Exchange, Beşiktaş Football Investments Incorporated announced the signing of Brazilian decent Mehmet Aurelio.

The statement reads as follows:
“Beşiktaş Club has signed Mehmet Aurelio to a two-year contract today. Former Real Betis player will receive a guaranteed amount of €750,000 annually, including €25,000 for each match he plays. No payment will be made to the Spanish team for canceling his contract.”
Who is Mehmet Aurelio?
Born on December 15, 1977 in Brazil, Mehmet (Marco) Aurelio had played for the famous Brazilian side Flamengo between 1995 and 2001. After a brief stint with Olario, he got transferred to Turkish outfit Trabzonspor, where he started as midfielder until 2003 and scored 15 goals in 64 matches. 
He moved to Fenerbahçe in 2004 and wore the yellow and navy blue jersey for four straight seasons, with 20 goals in 219 outings. He then went to Spain to play for Real Betis. The versatile Aurelio netted 6 goals in 58 matches for the Spanish side before joining Beşiktaş. Mehmet (Marco) Aurelio became a Turkish citizen in 2006. Since he previously had no history with the Brazilian national outfit, the Manager of Turkish International team Fatih Terim immediately called him up for duty. As a Turkish international, he made his debut against Luxemburg. He presently has 29 international caps with 2 goals under his belt.
