Bucaspor 0 – 1 Beşiktaş

Thanks to Bobo’s second half strike, Beşiktaş made a winning start into the 2010-11 season with a 1-0 victory away to newly promoted Bucaspor.

The Eagles’ season opener took place at the Atatürk Stadium in Izmir city attended by thousands of cheering Beşiktaş fans.
Although the early minutes saw neither side gaining supremacy in midfield, the Black and White machine started taking control after the quarter hour mark courtesy of a number of dangerous attacks initiated by Quaresma from the right and Erhan Güven from the left. But the Eagles failed to convert them, and the first half ended goalless.
Beşiktaş started the second half with a bang as their stifling pressure right from the whistle culminated with a goal. Brazilian striker Bobo took a superb long pass from Guti and made no mistake with his right-footed drive, 1-0 for the Eagles on 46 minutes. Bucaspor began to come out more after the goal, but Beşiktaş defence stood firm and extinguished home squad’s attacks before they developed into anything serious. Bucaspor hopes for an equaliser all but faded when Ediz Bahtiyaroğlu  received a direct red card for an illegal tackle against Necip Uysal 15 minutes from time and left his team one-man short. Late substitutions of Delgado, Nobre and Tabata for Guti, Bobo and Quaresma had no bearing on the final score as the Black and Whites grabbed all three points and started the new season with a huge smile.
