Bobo: “Everyone wants to start”

Beşiktaş’s top goal scorer Bobo has disclosed that there is a real fight going between the players who are vying for a starting position.

“Everyone is going after a place in the starting line-up. The competition is keeping everyone on his heels and extremely motivated. We are all up and ready both physically and mentally. It sure is good sign. If can take this momentum into our league matches, we would be a making a great start into the season.
I strongly believe playing with double strikers has certain advantages over the other offensive strategies. You create more chances and score more goals. Defending two quick forwards puts a lot of pressure on other team’s defence and wears them down sooner. As you’ll all remember, some of our forwards had experienced some goal scoring problems last season. I am sure this situation will be reversed with our new system, which is based on one hundred percent of attacking football. If our midfielders set us up with more chances, we’ll be finding the back of the net more frequently.
Thanks to Quaresma and Hilbert, we are going to take the helm at both flanks and receive more crosses than last season. Last year our wings did not produce at all, placing us as among the league’s the least scoring teams, especially in the first half of the season. But these guys are expert in this type of offensive football, and their deadly passes provide you with a non-stop stream of scoring opportunities.
My contact with my Beşiktaş still runs for another year, and I have no intention of leaving the team. And all rumours about me leaving the team are not true. I have an unfinished business here. Playing with Tello, Quaresma and Hilbert, who are all offensive midfielders, I want to be the League’s top scorer this year, an honour I’ve been dreaming of since I came to Istanbul.”
