Beşiktaş’s veteran defender İbrahim Toraman talked to the reporters at the Eagles’ training ground in Austria:
“Our new Manager tries to build a personal relationship with each player. He is a fair coach because he gives everyone an equal share. He even shows us where to stand in the field. But more importantly, he helps us improve our offensive side of the game. One thing is for sure, under his coaching, we are going to use the wings more often. You’ll see a constantly attacking team on the pitch next season.Although I basically consider myself as a stopper, given the chance, I can play any position out there, something I’ve been doing for other managers over the years.
I’ve never thought of leaving Beşiktaş, because after so many seasons here, I’ve become accustomed to regarding myself as a true-blood Eagle. I think I am going to hang up my boots at Beşiktaş. But until that time arrives, I intend to give everything I’ve got for this great club. Every pre-season period, I work hard and try to be worthy of its glorious jersey. This season is no different. If we can repeat the success of 2008-09 season when we lifted the both cups, I’ll be the happiest man on earth.
I am sure, in this country of 75 million, there are many other players who have the capacity to take up my place when I leave. All you have to do is search a little deeper and you’ll find them because we are nation of football.”
In reference to Eagles’ long-term injured midfielder Carlos Delgado who played in the second half of the match against Neftçi Baku yesterday, “A healthy Delgado is always a valuable asset to any team,” said Toroman.
According to him, had Turkey entered this year’s World Cup, she would’ve surprised everyone. He ended his chat with the reporters by claiming that Germany would win the World Cup.
