In their final play-off match, Beşiktaş Men’s Handball Team sneaked past Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, 25-24 in Dalaman Town, to win the Turkish Handball title.

After beating Bahçeşehir College and Metropolitan Municipality Ankaraspor, the Black Eagles met Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in their championship match tonight.
In a hotly-contested match, both teams played their hearts out from the start with Izmir Municipality nursing an 11-9 lead at the break Teams continued to swap goals in the second half as the game went back and forth until the last minute. But a last-ditch attempt by the Eagles put them up 25-24 when the final buzzer sounded, bringing the national title to Beşiktaş for the 2009-10 season. After the match, the players and coaching staff celebrated the victory with a small but a vocal group of fans, who travelled all the way from Istanbul to witness the Black Eagles make history once again.
