Beşiktaş’s promising defender Rıdvan Şimşek, who left the Manisaspor match on a stretcher just before half time, underwent an operation on his left foot last night.
Following a 41st-minute tackle by Manisaspor’s Simpson, Rıdvan Şimşek, along with a dislocated left ankle, suffered a broken left fibula and torn ligaments. He was immediately taken to Maslak Acıbadem Hospital by an ambulance and operated on around 0:30 a.m. The operation lasted 2:30 hour.According to Club Doctor Şenol Akman, the operation to fix the left fibula and repair the torn ligaments around it was quite successful: “It was no minor surgery at all, but everything went smoothly as planned. His foot will be in cast for 3-4 weeks. After that, he will receive physiotherapy. If everything goes right, he will be able to start practising within 4-5 months. He is a strong young lad; I am sure he will recover sooner than we expect.”
Beşiktaş Chairman Yıldırım Demirören and Board Members Erdoğan Toprak, Fahrettin Curoğlu and Orhan Saka all visited Rıdvan Şimşek and wished him a quick recovery.
