Dear Beşiktaş Supporters,
Beşiktaş’s culture is not only about winning games, but it is also about glory and pride of being honorable winners.
It is built upon fair play, gamesmanship and unlimited respect to our rivals on and off the pitch.
Let’s not forget, our legendary Captain Hakkı Yeten who had once sent a team mate to the locker room for a rough tackle during a critical match, and our striker Şükrü Erkuş, who helped the ref cancel a goal by admitting that he actually scored with his hand, a goal which might have sent Beşiktaş to the final. What about those great Beşiktaş fans who booed the ref for the entire match for not giving opponent’s legitimate penalty?
If we are going to win a game, we are going to do it the right way, just like Hakkı Yeten and Şürü Erkuş did.
For more than 107 years, Beşiktaş has been a symbol of fair play in this country. It has been setting a consistent example to others in true sportsmanship since its foundation. Unlike some other clubs, which I am sure you all know who they are, we are proud to be the one and only brightest face of Turkish Football.
Those who have been resorting to all kinds of dirty tactics and unsportsmanlike practices behind the scenes do not truly deserve to be a champion, and their ugly schemes will be uncovered one day. They are the biggest obstacle to Turkish Football in this country. With them around, Turkish Football doesn’t go anywhere.
After the recent weeks’ events unfolded before your very own eyes, we will probably not win the league title this season, but we know we’ve played it by the book more than one hundred percent, and we are still the greatest club in Turkey.
Just like an eagle, we will never give up and come back next season with our renewed strength to soar to new heights…
With my deepest love and respect,
Yıldırım Demirören
Chairman, Beşiktaş JK
