Beşiktaş 0 – 0 Trabzonspor

On Day 29 of the Turkcell Super League, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor played to a goalless draw at the BJK İnönü Stadium.

After the Black and White entered the pitch with a special banner marking the 165th Anniversary of Turkish Police Force, both teams observed a moment’s silence before the kick off in memory of Trabzonspor’s first Manager Hayri Gür who passed away midweek.
The two sides looked fairly even in the early going with İbrahim Toraman coming close to breaking the deadlock for the Black Eagles after 10 minutes but blasting it just over the crossbar. From that point on, led by the speedy Brazilian Alanzinho, the visitors began to push forward more and kept Beşiktaş defence under pressure; only to see the keeper Rüştü Reçber produce a couple of brilliant saves to deny them the go-ahead goal. Fifteen minutes after stopping a dangerous effort from Trabzonspor striker Umut Bulut, Reçber sustained an unfortunate injury and was replaced by the reserve keeper Hakan Arıkan in the 38th minute. Neither team was able to change the course of the game in the remaining minutes as the first half ended in a 0-0 draw.
Beşiktaş forced Trabzonspor back into their own half for most of the second half, but due to poor finishing and superb goaltending, could not get one pass the keeper Onur Kıvrak. Meanwhile, the visiting side from Trabzon City failed to take advantage of the big gaps the Eagles left behind. Following the late substitution of midfielder Ernst with striker Nobre, the visitors gained the upper hand in midfield and created some clear chances, but unable to score, settled for a goalless draw in the end.
