The Eagles Resign Key Players

Rüştü Reçber, İbrahim Toraman, İbrahim Üzülmez, Yusuf Şimşek and Uğur İnceman have all resigned with Beşiktaş today.

The signing ceremony took place at the BJK Nevzat Demir Sports Complex, and in addition to above players, attended by the Deputy-Chairman and Head of Beşiktaş Football Committee Serdar Adalı, Deputy-Chairman and Member of Football Committee Alaattin Aykaç, Board Member Responsible for Investments and Associations and Member of Football Committee Doğan Küçükemre and Board and Football Committee Member Cengiz Zülfükaroğlu.

While Beşiktaş signed Rüştü Reçber to a 2-year and İbrahim Toraman to 3-year contracts, İbrahim Üzülmez, Yusuf Şimşek and Uğur İnceman extended their contracts for one more year.
After the ceremony, Beşiktaş Captain İbrahim Üzülmez revealed, “I’ve been with the Club for more ten years. When I first arrived I had two goals in my mind. One was to be always on the starting line-up: The second was to make my jubilee here. I think I am going to achieve both my goals. I thank everyone who kept me in this great community all these years.”
İbrahim Toraman expressed his gratitude for the President Demirören and Board Members who stood by him during his difficult times and added, “Now, I am happy to be part of this club, and I want to hang my boots here.” When quizzed about playing for the Turkish national team, he declined to comment.
Beşiktaş’s successful goalkeeper Rüçtü Reçber was also delighted to stay at Beşiktaş, “I will probably put an end to my playing career here. But until then, I will go out and give everything I’ve got on the pitch like I’ve been doing during the previous seasons. For me, money is no object. I’ve left all financial matters in the hands of Mr. Serdal Adalı because I’ve great confidence in him. I will do everything in my power to help Beşiktaş finish atop the table this season. The backing I received from our fans during the Eskişehirspor match moved me a lot and motivated me throughout 90 minutes; I thank each and everyone of them, they are great,” said the former Turkish International.
Beşiktaş veteran midfielder Yusuf Şimşek was among the happy crowd:
“Beşiktaş Manager Mustafa Denizli had influenced my decision quite a lot. He is a great coach, and I love playing for him. Beşiktaş is also an outstanding club. We want to repeat last year’s success and lift that cup again.”
When asked about offers from abroad, he answered, “I had one offer from Europe but it was not something to dwell upon seriously. Beşiktaş is where I am at next season.”
Beşiktaş’s other key midfielder Uğur İnceman, who had one-year option in his contract, shared his thoughts on resigning with Beşiktaş, “My negotiations went smoothly. If both sides are speaking the same language, you don’t experience much problem. Our recent ascend will continue, and we will be successful in coming seasons as well.”
In his speech, the Deputy-Chairman and Head of Beşiktaş Football Committee Mr. Serdar Adalı thanked the players who fully cooperated with the management during the month-long negotiations:
“Today, we’ve resigned nearly all our players with whom we want to be together next season. I must admit these guys made some serious sacrifices, and as the Head of Beşiktaş Football Committee, I am grateful to them. They showed us how much they love this club. Because of the sacrifices they made we are going to have more money to sign new players.  Today, it  is a great day Beşiktaş.”
Mr. Adalı made a special reference to goalkeeper Rüştü Reçber, “We are quite pleased that he stayed with us. He is a great keeper, and we plan work with him as a coach after he retires.
On resigning Serdar Özkan and keeper Hakan Arıkan, Serdal Adalı clarified: “The negotiations with these players are still going on. We’ve made our final offers, and we are awaiting their answers. If they want to stay with us, they are more than welcome, otherwise, they are free to go.”
Mr Adalı went on to point out that they would keep a close tap on the transfer payments this season and maintain a financial balance between the Turkish players.
Reflecting on Manager Mustafa Denizli’s future plans with Beşiktaş Serdal Adalı expained, “We wish to sign our coach to a 3-year term but nothing has been finalized yet. Just keep on tracking us. We hope to come to terms with him before the end of the season.”
Deputy-Chairman and Football Committee Member Alaattin Aykaç summarized Beşiktaş’s strategy for signing foreign players, “We will distance ourselves from overpriced and old-aged, washed-out players and carefully search the background of every player going back to his junior years.”
