Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball overwhelmed Panküp Kayseri Şeker, 89-64, at the Banvit Kara Ali Acar Sports Hall on Friday to make the semifinals of Teknosa Turkish Cup.
Both teams had no trouble getting to the basket in the early going, and thanks to an 8-0 spurt, Panküp Kayseri Şeker led most of the quarter. But the Lady Eagles put together a late rally and tied the score at 18-18 on a jumper by Nykesha Sales with 51 seconds remaining. They then fought their way to 22-18 lead by the end of first stanza before outscoring Kayseri 23-13 in the second, for a comfortable 45-13 cushion at the half.Inspired by an aggressive defense, our boys in Black and White never cooled down in the second half and thwarted all Kayseri comeback attempts as they took a 71-48 advantage into the final quarter. They continued to outplay their opponent in the fourth to emerge with an 89-64 victory and advance to the semifinals stage of the Teknosa Turkish Cup.
Beşiktaş Cola Turka’s Nykesha Sales and Kelly Santos led all scores with 21 points each, followed by Shavonte Zellous (18), Tuğba Taşcı (8), Esra Erden (6), Gergana Branzova Erdenay (6), Ayşe Cora (3), Melek (2), Naile İvegin (2) and Lucie Melek Bouthors (2).
