Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball lost its Turkish Cup semifinal, 72-61, to Fenerbahçe, at the Banvit Kara Ali Acar Sports Hall on Saturday.
Fenerbahçe opened the game with consecutive jumpers and went on to build a 24-15 lead by the end of the first quarter. The yellow and navy blues continued to outplay our Lady Eagles in the second, as they stretched their advantage to 17 points at 37-20 midway through the quarter. Beşiktaş Cola Turka roared back to life with a late rally and managed to trim the deficit but still trailed 43-37 at the breakThe teams traded baskets and stayed close throughout the third until Sutton-Brown made a string of layups to give Fenerbahçe a 60-50 edge, heading into the final quarter of play. All attempts by the Black and White to claw its way back into the game fell short in the fourth as the yellow and navy blue ladies walked away with a 72-61 victory and advanced to the cup final, knocking their arch-rival out at the semifinal stage.
