After Beşiktaş’s crucial away win against Denizlispor, Beşiktaş Manager Mustafa Denizli commented on his team’s performance:

“Our opponent played much better than we expected tonight. Besides being extremely creative, they showed fantastic appetite and pressed us everywhere on the pitch. I must admit we were pushed back on defence for most of the match and could not play our usual game.
But at this stage of the season, getting three points on the road is more valuable to us than our performance on the pitch.
Despite our below par showing, we did the right things out there to win this match, and they should not be undermined in any way. One thing is clear, we keep on winning games by playing good defence, which is undeniably the best in this league  With a win against us here tonight, Denizlispor were hoping for a clean slate to steer themselves away from the relegation zone. Who knows, if they keep playing like this, they may reach their goal before the season ends.
Although our defence looked impregnable throughout the game, we did not create too many clear-cut chances at the other end; because we failed to gain the upper hand in midfield, not to mention our poor passing and ball-handling in the second half. But let’s not forget the pressure was on us here tonight. Had we lost this match, our title hopes would suffer drastically; so we had to be real careful not to make any mistakes. The three points we’ve earned tonight has proven that we are a serious contender. From now on, no one should count us out. However, a lot of water will pass under the bridge until the end of this tight race.”
