Beşiktaş took the spotlight at the annual “The Player of the Year” awards ceremony organized by the daily Turkish newspaper Zaman. 

The ceremony, held at the headquarters of Zaman, was attended by the State Minister Responsible from Sports Faruk Nafiz Özak, Beşiktaş Chairman Yıldırım Demirören and Board Members along with the football team’s coaching staff and players. The well-known celebrities from the Turkish football world were also present at the event, now in its 20th year.  
While Yıldırım Demirören and Mustafa Denizli picked up the sportsman and manager of the year awards, double titled holders Beşiktaş was named “The Football Team of the Year.” Meanwhile, “The Player of the Year” award went to Beşiktaş’s hard-working German Midfielder Fabian Ernst. 
At the closing of the ceremony, Beşiktaş Chairman Yıldırım Demirören took the floor and thanked the former and present Beşiktaş boards members who stood by him last season.
