The election to decide the new Head of Beşiktaş Council for 2010-13 took place on Sunday. Since no other candidate entered the race, Mr. Yalçın Karadeniz would stay in office three more years.
After the election, which was held at the Ceylan Intercontinental Hotel in Istanbul, Mr. Karadeniz thanked the Beşiktaş council members for uniting behind him:“There were some other candidates for this important position, but I was not so sure they were the right names. I am glad the council members thought the same way. Although I was bit tired from the previous term, I could not turn down their repeated requests. Being the only candidate here will not spoil me in any way, on the contrary, I will work harder than before to be worthy of your support.”
Yalçın Karadeniz then introduced the council members he would work together during his three year office term.
His list included: Oğuz Anter, Vedat Cem, Sedat Piroğlu, Osman Akalın, Serdar Keskin, and Cemil Cengiz Satar.
Beşiktaş Council Head Mr. Karadeniz, whose term will end in 2013, received 268 votes out 300 with 18 invalid.
