In a Week 20 contest of the Aroma Turkish League, the visiting Beşiktaş Men’s Volleyball defeated the formidable cross-town rival Fenerbahçe, 3-2, at the Burhan Felek TVF 50th Year Sports Hall on Friday.
The first set began with both sides scoring with similar frequency, but a late rally gave the Black and White a 26-24 victory and a 1-0 lead in sets. The home team Fenerbahçe roared back to capture the second set by a score of 25-13 that tied it up at one set apiece. The yellow and dark blue host prevailed 28-26 in the hotly-contested third set to jump ahead 2-1 in the match. However, the determined Black Eagles would get back into the game in the fourth with numerous kills through the middle to win the set 25-23 and push the match into a fifth and deciding set. The Black and Whites never let the reins loose in the tie-break set as they outscored Fenerbahçe 15-11 in the end to secure a hard-fought but a well-earned 3-2 victory.
