Beşiktaş Cola Turka 97, Aliağa Petkim 86

In Week 21’s match-up, Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball pulled out a 97-86 over the visiting Aliağa Petkim at BJK Cola Turka Arena on Sunday.

Using the Russian Center Likholitov’s size, the Black and White controlled the painted area in the early going and was up 12-4 after four minutes. But a string of jumpers by Vukosavljevic and McClinton helped the visitors erase the deficit and surge ahead, 13-12, at the 7-minute mark. The Black Eagles tried to keep the score close with Cevher Özer’ outside shots but were unable to contain the hot-shooting McClinton as they fell behind 22-17 after one.
Beşiktaş Cola Turka made a stronger start to the second stanza and tied the game at 22 with back-to-back layups from Likholitov. From that point on, Aliağa Petkim turned to an effective zone defense that would give the visiting team the upper hand for the rest of the quarter. Then a three-pointer by Ismail capped a 17-4 Aliağa Petkim run to push the margin to 13 points, 39-26, with four minutes remaining on the clock. The visitors were up, 49-38, at the intermission.
Bolstered by a tenacious defense and a Cevher Özer 3-point barrage, Beşiktaş Cola Turka was completely different team in the second half; as it succeeded in regaining a two-point advantage at 55-53 midway through the quarter on a Brad Newley layup. The Black and White never relinquished the lead rest of the way and pushed the gap to 70-62, going into the final frame of the game.
The fourth quarter contained few surprises and largely mirrored the previous one as Beşiktaş Cola Turka picked up a hard-fought 97-86 victory.
