Right after the Galatasaray match, Beşiktaş Manager Mustafa Denizli reflected on his team’s performance: 

“There is no doubt in mind we were by far the better side in this match. Especially in the first half, we had plenty of chances to win the game comfortable. But, despite a great mixup game in the air and ground, a combination of poor finishing and bad luck prevented us from getting on the scoresheet. Galatasaray looked like they were happy with a draw. We controlled most of the play and should have won. I believe tonight, we dropped two points while Galatasaray earned one. Nevertheless, there are still quite a few of matches to be played, and we are in a good position to make for this draw. But we must put in this kind of performance every week. If we can add to it like we did last season, we will be right up there with other contenders until the final match of the season.
In many ways, it was a first-class, well-fought derby with a lot of exciting moments. I am sure everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. We deserved to win but failed to capitalize on our chances. The only consolation from this result is that since Galatasaray is the current league leader, we at least have kept the point difference with them intact. In short, although I am not too thrilled about the result, I am satisfied with my players’ performance tonight. We are getting better every match we play.”
