Beşiktaş Cola Turka: 91 - Mersin Metropolitan Municipality: 73

In a Week 18 game against the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, Beşiktaş Cola Turka Men’s Basketball pounded out a 91-73 win at home to post its 12th victory of the season.

The Black Eagles jumped on top early with back-to-back threes from Cevher and Baxter and enjoyed a 9-0 lead after three minutes. Asım Pars made a number of layups for the visitors to keep the score close, but Beşiktaş Cola Turka was up by 10, 17-7, with 2:00 remaining on the clock, on its way to a 19-11 first- quarter advantage.
Mersin Metropolitan Municipality opened the second on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to 2 points at 19-17. However, as the game went on, Baxter and Newley got into the act as they knocked down consecutive buckets from inside and out to push the margin back to 7, 35-28, with less than 2:00 to go in the first half. Despite a late Mersin surge, the Black and White was able to hang on for a 37-31 edge at the intermission.
Powered by a 14-2 run, Beşiktaş Cola Turka exploded out the gates in the second half to build a 16-point, 51-35, cushion at the halfway mark. The visitors used the scoring of Grier to stay in the game but could not stop a flurry of 3-point shots from the Eagles and went to the final quarter trailing 62-50.
Losing Cevher Özer and Engin Atsür to injuries seriously disrupted the Eagles’s offensive flow early in the fourth, enabling Mersin Metropolitan Municipality to pull within 6 points at 66-60 midway through the quarter. Nevertheless, Baxter, the undisputed start of the game, stepped out and started hitting jumpers from all over the court to give Beşiktaş Cola Turka an 83-65 advantage with two minutes left to play. Riding an 18-point lead, the Black and White comfortably played out the remaining minutes to claim a well-deserved 91- 73 victory.
