Beşiktaş Finish Second in Antalya Tuttur Cup

After a never-ending penalty shoot-out, the Eagles lost the Tuttur.Com Cup final 17-16 to the Bundesliga side Hamburg and ended up finishing runner up at the Antalya tournament.

The Black and Whites took control right from the opening whistle and attacked relentlessly from the left through Yusuf Şimşek but were consistently repelled by a solid Hamburg defence. After Serdar Özkan wasted a golden opportunity for Beşiktaş, the Germans began to push forward more in the closing stages, only to see the Eagles hold their ground as the first half concluded goalless.
The early part of the second half saw the Eagles continue to pressure the Hamburg’s goal from the left flank but not being able to find the net. On the hour mark, the German side created their only clear-cut chance of the second 45 minutes, when Trochowski’s hard drive hit the cross bar and bounced back in. The teams played like they were happy with a split rest of the way as the match went into penalties.
After İsmail Köybaşı failed to convert his second penalty, Hamburg went on to win the dramatic shoot-out 17-16 to claim first-place honours in the tournament. While Beşiktaş settled for a second place finish, Vitesse from Holland were third, and the other Turkish entry, Kayserispor fourth.
