The 4th Ordinary Meeting of Beşiktaş Council for the year 2009 was held at the Lutfi Kirdar Exhibition and Convention Center on Sunday.

The meeting was attended by the Beşiktaş Board Members, Head of Beşiktaş Council Mr. Yalçın Karadeniz and Council members. After Mr. Karadeniz’s opening speech, Club General Secretary took the floor and lashed out at the recent speculations about the Club’s over all debt. “It’s interesting how everyone is focused on our debt these days, and no one says a single word about our rivals’.”
“In addition to our debt, our performance is also being questioned,” he said and continued:
“However, those views do not reflect reality because we’ve won 5 major titles, which included one National League Championship, three Turkish Cups and one Super Cup during our administration. In order not to take up any more of your time, I am not going to mention our titles in other sports. We tried hard to renovate the Inonu Stadium, raised the Akatlar Arena to international standards and opened the Fulya Complex. These are not small achievements to be taken lightly, so every one should think twice before jumping to criticize us as being “unsuccessful.”
I am confidant our football team will perform much better in the second half of the season and lift that championship trophy again this year because we have a real talented team out there.”
In regard to the upcoming presidential elections, Öner wished all candidates good luck.
Then the members voted on the nominees for the discipline, election, registry, auditing and museum boards, to be elected at the January 2010 General Assembly.
