Beşiktaş Cola Turka 69, Dynamo Kursk 95

Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball suffered a 95-69 loss to the visiting Dynamo Kursk of Russia in the first leg of FIBA EuroCup Second Round at Istanbul BJK Akatlar Cola Turka Arena. 

With a starting lineup consisting of Naile İvegin, Gergena Erdenay, Sandra Mandir, Esra Erden, and Dubravka Dacic, the Lady Eagles set the early pace but then fell into a scoring drought that saw them trail 23-11 by the end of the first.
The visitors took complete control at the start of the second quarter and led as many as 13 before the Black and White finally woke up and fought back with consecutive jumpers by Esra Erden and Sales to get within 6 points, 30-24, midway through the quarter. From that moment on, the teams kept trading baskets and Dynamo Kursk was up 48-41 at halftime.
The Russians regained their momentum in the third and forced Beşiktaş Cola Turka into a series of costly turnovers to boost the margin to 20 points at 74-54 entering the final frame.
The Black and White tried hard to narrow the gap in the fourth, but the stubborn Dynamo Kursk would not let up; as it preserved its lead rest of the way to emerge with an impressive 95-69 road win. The second leg is scheduled to take place in Russia on January the 14th.
