Istanbul University 71, Beşiktaş Cola Turka 78

In a Week 8 match-up at Avcılar Sports Hall, Beşiktaş Cola Turka Women’s Basketball and Istanbul University played a tight one, with the Black and White coming on top, 78-71, thanks to late third quarter rally.

After opening the game with back-to-back buckets, the Lady Eagles took command and turned an early 16-8 advantage into a 25-14 first-quarter lead. They rode the scoring of Sales and Branzova in the second to push the margin to 13 points at 33-20 midway through the quarter. But Istanbul University refused to give up and went on an 11-0 run of its own to tie the score at 36-36 with less than a minute to play. The Black and White, nevertheless, clung to a 1-point, 39-38 edge at halftime.
Dominating the boards on both ends, Beşiktaş Cola Turka tried to pull away early in the third, but Istanbul University managed to regroup quickly and surged ahead, 50-49, with 4:15 left. Then consecutive layups from Zellous triggered a late Beşiktas rally that gave the Eagles a 65-56 cushion, going into the final stanza. Although, the home team worked hard to erase the deficit in the fourth, Sales and Mandir teamed up to hit straight treys down the stretch to lead the Black and White to a 78-71 victory.
