Post-Match Quotes from Mustafa Denizli:

This is what Beşiktaş Manager Mustafa Denizli said about his lads’ performance against Bursaspor:

We weren’t expecting this much rain. If we knew it would be like this, we would start with a different line-up, but the sudden downpour 10 minutes before the kick-off did not give us enough time to make the necessary adjustments. The slippery pitch had a lot to do with our disappointing performance out there tonight, as we were just falling and sliding all over the place. To top it all off, our defence was seriously hampered by the injuries to Rüştü and Ferrari, forcing us into unplanned substitutions. I had to use up all three of our substitutions on other players. In short, even though we didn’t give up too many chances, due to poor conditions and unexpected injuries, we ended up dropping three valuable points at home. So far, we are only 5 points behind our season goal, and I am sure we will make for it in the second half.
In general, I don’t like talk about the referees; but if they miss out on two clearly intentional hand ball calls against the same player, I have to speak out and criticize them. Otherwise, I won’t be defending my team’s interests. Funny, when I asked him about the calls after the match, I had no satisfying answer.
Following our 7-match winning streak, we lost 7 points in our last 3 games. Although, we are not too far behind the league leaders, we are 5 points off our target for this half of the season. To get our momentum back, we need to be more focused and play harder in the second half. It looks like we are in for another tight this year.”
